Dr. Charlise Gunderson received her Medical Degree from Texas A&M University and has been practicing pediatric Ophthalmology in the Bay Area for more than 20 years. She provides both surgical and non-surgical treatment of many childhood eye problems including strabismus, congenital cataracts, tear duct obstructions and styes. Dr. Gunderson’s practice at South Shore Eye Center will concentrate exclusively on the treatment of medical eye conditions for children 6 years of age and under.

Dr. Charlise Gunderson spent her early years in Oklahoma before moving to Texas where she obtained her undergraduate and graduate degrees from Baylor University. She attended Medical School at Texas A&M, College of Medicine and completed her residency training in ophthalmology at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Following her residency, she completed a fellowship in glaucoma at the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston and in Pediatric Ophthalmology at Houston Eye Associates, under Dr. Malcolm Mazow.

Dr. Gunderson began practicing Pediatric Ophthalmology at UTMB, as an Associate Professor, before joining Coastal Eye Associates in Webster, TX. As an extension of her practice at Coastal Eye Associates, she will begin offering appointments at South Shore Eye Center.

She and her husband, Sam, have 2 daughters. She is also an avid runner and enjoys traveling with her family.
